[Notice] Notice regarding duplicate sending of personal information usage details emails

On May 16, 2023, we once again bow our heads in apology to customers who experienced inconvenience due to the issue of [Personal Information Usage History Notification Email] being sent repeatedly from Megazone accounts.
The cause and current status of the issue are as follows.

Between 03:30 and 09:40 KST on May 16, 2023, duplicate personal information usage notification emails were sent to some MegaZone account holders.
This issue occurred when a timeout occurred during the process of sending the personal information usage history email, and an attempt was made to resend it.
We temporarily suspended sending emails, and then took steps to identify the root cause and take action.

Damage details
Owners of MegaZone accounts received duplicate emails regarding personal information usage at intervals of several minutes between 03:30 and 09:40 KST on May 16, 2023.
Root cause
This issue occurred when, during the process of merging Megazone account systems a year ago, we attempted to resend emails that had timed out due to delays in processing when sending out personal information usage history notification emails to transferred users.
Temporary measures
We have temporarily suspended sending emails to prevent the sending of emails notifying you of your personal information usage history.
Improvement measures and next steps
We have implemented the following improvement measures to prevent this issue from recurring in the future. We will check the progress of these measures by noon tomorrow (May 17th) and directly inform customers who experienced inconvenience once they are finalized.
- We have improved the server that runs batch programs via asynchronous processing so that it does not retry due to timeout.
- We have improved the management of sending history to prevent emails with the same content from being resent to the same user even if a retry is performed.
- We have adjusted the batch execution time from 03:30 to business hours to enable immediate response to issues and eliminate inconvenience to customers due to email notifications.
We apologize again for any inconvenience caused.
We will strive to be reborn with more stable and better services.
